Self-trust is all about credibility. It answers 2 questions: Do I trust myself? Can others trust me?
The 4 cores of credibility

💡 All cores should be at the same time. Think about a person who has solid integrity but misses the capabilities to deliver the job or some track records. He’s just a nice guy but not the right person to be trusted.

Integrity: Are you congruent?
- Honesty: Most people think that integrity is the same thing as being honest. But it's not only honesty. Most managers think that they are honest. But their reports do not think so. For sure honesty is the biggest pillar of integrity but there are 3 other qualities needed.
- Congruence: This is the exact match of behavior and intent. This is the stability in behaviors, and consistency across decisions. Does what says. Says what does.
- Humility: A humble person is more interested in
What is right
rather than being right
. Correctness and doing the right thing are above all personal desires and needs. That kind of a leader establishes credibility and hence trust.
- Courage: Integrity also requires courage. Doing the right thing is not easy but when you insist on being right the courage you demonstrate will contribute on the integrity you demonstrate.
